Food Innovation Summit 2015

The coming century will face the effects of the largest population explosion in mankind history. Facts and figures are already well known: according to the FAO, by 2050, the world population will grow from 6.4 to 9 billion people. In the meantime, the needs and demands for food will increase proportionately at least. If current patterns persist, 70% more food will need to be produced globally, while at the same time climate change will disturb the satisfaction of these basic needs.

On Feb 3rd, I’ll be attending a panel session on Disruptive Meat Alternatives: From Niche Market to mainstream.

The panel will be moderated by Virpi Varjonen, market analyst and strategist at Invenire and I’ll be joined by industry peers Céline Laisney from Alimavenir and Dr. Anke M Janssen, senior scientist consumer science at Food & Biobased Research at Wageningen University, Netherlands.

We’ll be discussing a range of topics and focusing on what it will take for consumers to accept alternative forms of protein in their daily diets.
